National Cancer Centre of Belarus
The N.N. Alexandrov National Cancer Centre of Belarus is integral scientific, treating and training complex. It includes 12 scientific departments, 28 diagnosis and treatment subdivisions. The Oncology Chair of the Belarusian Medical Academy for Postgraduate Training is functioning within the facilities of the centre. The stuff number is 1686, including 312 doctors, among them 24 DScs (Medicine), 69 DScs (Medicine) and (Biology)and 73 MScs (Medicine and Biology), 11 professors. Bed capacity is 832. More than 18 000 patients are examined and administered treatment during a year. The diagnostic services are equipped by modern facilities, allowing to make a diagnosis of the most complicated cases at the earliest possible dates. About 1 million of different diagnostic and laboratory researches are implemented in the Cancer Centre, and also the outpatient examination of patients (more than 60 000) are hold a year.
The Centre's specialists have acquired mastery of all surgical, radiotherapeutical and chemotherapeutical treatment methods for all kinds of malignant tumors, used in the world practice. More than 10 000 thousand complicated operations for head and neck, breast, lung, esophagus, stomach, colon and rectum, urogenital organs, bone and soft tissue tumors are annually performed in perfectly equipped operating rooms. Video-assisted, plastic reconstructive organ-sparing and simultaneous operations are widely used. Complicated surgical interventions are performed with efficient anasthesia.
Four modern linear accelerators make it possible to implement the intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), stereotactic, 3 and 4D conformal radiation therapy.The are also a gamma-therapeutical machine and two brachytherapy suites. Diagrams and programs of chemotherapeutic and hormonal treatment of tumors and target therapy are applied. The treatment are added to radiofrequency ablation of tumors and applying modifying impacts (hyperthermia, photodynamic therapy).
The Centre has a state licence for medical and pharmaceutical activities as well as those related to the traffic of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substance and precursors and also in the field of industrial safety and communications.
Cancer Centre provides different medical services of examining and treating of patients from near and far abroad. One thousand patients from near and far abroad (The Russian Federation, the Ukraine, Azerbaidjan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Lithuania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Latvia, Estonia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Libya, the USA, the UK, Venezuela, Iraq are examined and treated in the Cancer Centre. The Center’ services of clinical trials of medicine, facilities, tools were used by firms and institutions from the Russian Federation, Lithuania, the USA, the Netherlands, Chine, the UK, Cyprus, Poland, Czechia, Israel, Switzerland, Germany, Bulgaria, in the 2013 year (referred to by the Centre for Expertise and Testing in Public Health).
